At The Lavender Fox, we take inspiration from nature and history to bring you a whimsical and elegant experience. Our goal is to educate and guide people through the world of tea and our love of botanicals, spices, and local & specialty seasonal ingredients provides a focal point for our menu. Our tea menu features 6 tea companies from around the world that are steeped in history and have unique interpretations of tea. With over 80 different blends of tea, The Lavender Fox is one of the most unique tearooms in the world.
Lola Angus: Tea Sommelier & proprietor
A self-taught pastry chef, Lola has worked in the food & hospitality industry for 10 years. Along the way, her love of tea developed into a full-fledged exploration of its history and uses. Lola has recently spent the past 6 years working in tea rooms in Toronto, Canada. During that time she studied at The Tea & Herbal Association of Canada, and became a fully certified tea sommelier. Lola also does all her own food photography, showcasing her magical creations. Lola has always had a strong love of her hometown of Cobalt, Ontario; and when the historical Coniagas headframe came up for sale, she knew it was time to come home and create a beautiful tea room for the people of the North. Alex Bird: Juno Nominated Jazz singer/songwriter
Alex Bird is a 2x JUNO-nominated jazz singer, songwriter and actor from Toronto, ON; now residing in the historic town of Cobalt with his darling Lola, He literally grew up with the classics. As a young boy he was taken to hang around the Toronto Jazz scene, and had the opportunity to see and meet many of the greats along the way; Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, Mel Tormé, Ray Charles...the list goes on. Without even knowing it, his musical training developed, sitting around at smoky Jazz clubs into the wee small hours of the morning. When he is not touring the country or recording albums with his band, he is helping out at The Lavender Fox creating a beautiful atmosphere, serving tables, and writing new music.





We are deeply committed to environmental sustainability and do our best to work with companies that have made strong commitments to sustainable practices as well as using, where possible, sustainable packaging and reducing waste.
We acknowledge that tea is sourced from vulnerable places that are at risk from climate change. We work with companies that source organic, fair trade, and/or biodynamic tea as well as companies that have strong commitments to workers rights, living wages, education, and co-operative farming.
